Gardener Near Me is a side-project that I worked on last year.
As a fan of no-code and low-code tools, I follow a few "influencers" in this space and started seeing more of them using no-code tools to build marketplaces. Having built this very website (fimacd.com) in Webflow (a no-code tool), I wanted to see if it would be possible to build a marketplace myself using Webflow. So that's what I set out to do.
Using the CMS plan from Webflow, I set about designing a homepage, search results page and a listing page. I had a lot of fun with this, but realised I needed a few more features to make it work how I wanted. For example, I wanted gardeners to be able to create their own listings, rather than me doing it for them. So I set Airtable as my database (to record all of the listings) and added an Airtable form to the site. I then had to set up Zapier to check for any new records in the database and automatically publish them on the website. It took a while to get to grips with everything (and required a lot of testing to make sure it all worked) but I was pleased with the end result.
Whilst Gardener Near Me is not a serious business, I think it's a good demonstration of how quickly, easily and cheaply you can build an MVP marketplace. I've since helped two clients build an MVP marketplace in Webflow.
