What I did

My role:

Researcher and designer 👩‍🎨

Digital Surgery (acquired by Medtronic) helps surgeons and health systems deliver consistent and high-quality surgery through AI, data and visualisation. I was the lead UX Designer for a user-generated content platform which aimed to accelerate self-learning and help trainee surgeons (residents) prepare and rehearse for procedures in the operating room.

Working across the entire product lifecycle, I was responsible for researching, designing and testing the new platform. Through weekly calls with surgeons at leading institutions across the US, I conducted interviews to uncover the root cause of their problems and test prototypes to get feedback on proposed design solutions. I also carried out international research, travelling to hospitals in New York (Mount Sinai Beth Israel) and California (Stanford University School of Medicine) where I conducted many interviews, focus groups, contextual enquiries, observations and user testing with surgical staff at all levels.

Sharing my insights back in the UK, I enjoyed collaborating with our medical education, R&D, product and engineering teams to develop user journeys, define the information architecture and brainstorm ideas for screen designs. Through many quick rounds remote and non-remote user testing I continually analysed feedback and iterated my designs to further improve our product offering.
