Business Score is a B2B marketplace helping eCommerce businesses find the right type of funding (e.g. business loan).

I started working with Rich Serunjogi, founder of Business Score, when I was working at Forward Partners (a London Venture Capital firm). We kept in touch and a year later he asked me to help him with some user research. Business Score was still pre-launch and Rich wanted to better understand his target audience. So we decided to carry out user research to learn more about why they these businesses needed additional capital, how they currently accessed it and what their frustrations are with the process.

Rich lined up the interviews and I drafted a discussion guide. I decided to use the timeline technique - this is where you ask the research participant to draw a timeline of a certain event, including the triggers, detailed steps, and the outcome. We both learnt a lot from the interviews and could immediately see some opportunities to improve the current processes.

With that in mind, I got to work on the wireframes for the Business Score portal. This included designing a fact-find form where customers could fill in details about their business (e.g. revenue, costs etc.) and a dashboard which recommended the most relevant financial products to them.
